The hospitality of the people adds to the essence of the place which then proved as a bliss in my visit to Katmandu…Had it not been for this place and the people in here then my stay in the country would have been of much less enthusiasm…
We visited Nepal to film the aftermath of the earthquake and stayed here for 10 days. The hostel was transformed into a base for volunteers, both local and foreign. The staff held frequent meetings, cooked and made tea for everyone and spent evenings together in the beautiful yard of the hostel. These people are simply amazing. The rooms are simple and clean and the neighborhood is authentically local and quiet, yet just a short bus ride from the historical center. We definitively recommend this experience ro everyone!
Stayed May 2015, traveled as a couple
First — is a professional team working in this hotel. They are so courteous and gentle with guests. When Air India lost our luggage, one of the guys there Sameer drove me back to the airport and helped to find it. When it was time to leave for Pokhara — the guys were really helpful with the taxi and bus tickets. By the way, they offered masala tea and coffee all the time and never charged us for it. They were always there to answer our questions which made it a great place to learn about Nepal and its culture.Second — is a place. It is an old mansion that made us feel like we were guests in a royal residence. Awesome windows, winding stairs and a beautiful garden. A truly peaceful and meditative place. Third — is friendship. Now, after having spent a week at this place, we always know where to stay in Kathmandu. After celebrating Holi Festival together with the guys who prepared festive Nepali food for us, after a random concert and nice conversations by the fire in the garden we became friends. The guys stayed in touch while we tried to settle in our next location in Pokhara and it feels like this connection will never be lost. Forget about staying in dirty and overcrowded Thamel. This mansion in a silent non-tourist area shows you real and authentic Kathmandu!
I have searched for an apartment for three months and came across the Dormitory Nepal. This Dormitory has the charm of a Buddhist retreat begins: It is placed in a residential neighborhood, the pleasant calm before the otherwise very hectic, noisy and smoggy city. The staff is extremely generous: So I was repeatedly otherwise much more complex to reach places down quickly and easily with the motorcycle taxi or picked up from there. The workforce dominated the preparation of the classic Nepalese court Dal Bhat top notch. Thus, the change in diet is an easy choice. Since I had booked three months me a really fair price was offered. Even otherwise, I was helped out extremely generous, sometimes with such exotic loans such as an electric guitar! All requests were met me at first. If I wanted to take the meal at a different time than usual, was granted the problems. A coffee or tea is always cooked to order. The staff is very open and participates knowledgeable and interested in talking, history and politics and, of course, trekking and other excursions on the country. About the time that I could be here to warm friendships have developed with the workforce, which remain even after my departure. I would recommend this Dormitory, the rather acts as a retreat oasis to me, would highly recommend.
Hello! for I am Paul Pirnbacher of Mexico, and living in Austria for almost 10 Anios and came to Asia to travel by myself for 6 months. I’ve been by India and Thailand, and ofall places I’ve been devo definitely say that this is the one I liked most from the 1st day. The place is amazing! It is like a multi-storey mansion and many rooms. Very nice place, both inside and outside. Super clean throughout, beds too comfortable and great shower with hot water and beautifully maintained the banios, if there is something even better than the place (which is already quite good) are the guys who work here. They are a group of young friends decided to take estre draft-bedroom guesthouse, very friendly and always attentive to make their guests feel comfortable. It is very normal to meet in the evening (or any time of day) in the room or in the kitchen or in the garden and talk about many things, because they are so interested in knowing about their guests and their country of origin and also have very deep conversations about life and culture of nepal while we have you. In truth I could not write all the good that has been with me on one page, guys are really very very friendly and honest and always concerned about the welfare and comfort of its occupants. The area is beautiful, quiet, near the embassy of Brazil and USA, the neighborhood is beautiful and is a great place because you can relax the traffic chaos of the city but also one not far from the tourist areas. Simply I was very lucky to have found you. And as a traveler I am recommend it, you’ll love the bedroom-mansion, and even more than that, the guys who work here. We talk about the excursions they can do in Nepal and places to visit, and more than anything, what I like is that they do things corazon, non-profit or benefit provided, and especially care in caring for its guests, the truth is like feeling at home with these guys, well I leave there because otherwise I write a book, they will not regret it. Greetings To You !! ^^
